Key Replacements missing = loss

As uncomfortable as the Canyon Creek offense played, the defense made it uncomfortable for Antioch to get anything going.  And after Casey Anderson scored the only touchdown of the game it looked like they would go to 5-0 and closer to securing a first round bye.     With only seconds remaining in the game, and less than ten yards from the end zone and a two score lead, Canyon Creek attempted to run it in or run it out.  As Grisley tried to avoid the defense the ball came loose and was picked up by Antioch defensive back Ronnie Mander who ran it back 95 yards for the tying score.  It was Mander's third fumble recovery resulting in 120 defensive yards.  The score was tied at six with only seven seconds remaining, Antioch needed an extra point and had struggled all game to score.  QB Dan Taylor found Jason Durbin in the end zone and Antioch stole a victory away, winning 7-6.
Eastside Thunder continued their winning ways upsetting Mars Hill in OT, 12-6.
Two teams were eliminated from the playoff chase, The Patriots and Team Mother both will be playing in the Playing for Pride tournament during playoff week at Juanita High School.
In other news, Young Life clinched a first round bye winning their fifth game in a row and clinched the West Division.

The Replacements lost to Double Shot this week 20-8.  They were missing key players like #5 Greg Prator

Two weeks ago Ronnie Mander of the Antioch Saints tried to talk to Head Official Ken Deuman and explain to him that he can't call a lining up over center penalty unless it's an obvious foul.  This comment sent Ken Deuman over the edge and he prepared to throw a flag after the game had already ended.  A penalty after the game or before is an automatic two game suspension.  Cooler heads prevailed and Ken did not throw the flag.
Last week Antioch struggled to keep up with an undermanned Canyon Creek team and trailed the number one team in the league most of the 44 minutes in the game.    Canyon Creek had held the ranking over the last two weeks with impressive wins over the Replacements and Double Shot.  When I say "most of the game" I mean most of the game.
With Jeff Forde out of commission last week, Canyon Creek relied on back up QB - Brian Grisley.
