ENOUGH IS ENOUGH
Head Official Ken Deuman has had enough. Time and
time again players have questioned his calls or asked
why a call wasn't called. Over the past two weeks
he has allowed one comment from players but the minute
they continue with their chatter, he throws an
unsportsmanlike penalty which is a 15 yard penalty AND
an automatic first down.
"We stand by Deuman's decisions." Committee member and
former head official Darin Halvorsen said.
"Players are to realize that they should first
communicate with each other and second communicate with
their coach."
After evaluating Deuman's recent actions, I've noticed they
have been very consistent. For example, a Mars Hill
Player kept complaining about being held. Ken
didn't. The Mars Hill player (who kept his
composure) wouldn't stop asking Ken about the "no call"
and with mere seconds remaining in the game, and on a
fourth down, with Mars Hill trailing by six points,
Deuman threw the flag.
When Deuman was asked why he threw the flag, he
responded with "enough is enough, regardless of where we
are in the field and in the game, players cannot
question every play. Coaches are allowed to speak
as long as it's a question asked in a professional
manner and my answer is received."
Throughout the rest of the day Deuman & officiating
crew penalized a record number of complaining players
and fans. Hopefully that will set a stage for the
highly intensified playoffs.

The League and Officials
are concerned with the constant chatter from players. Last week
head official, Ken Deuman drew the line and
penalized players that would not stop talking about a
bad call. |
PLAYING FOR PRIDE
PREDICTIONS
TEAM MOTHER AT MEAN MACHINE 5:30 PM
In a rematch of division rivals, Team Mother will have an
opportunity to not only win their first game of the season, but
play an additional game next week in the Playing for Pride
Championship. Their first match up occurred in week two and Mean
Machine had just been "robbed" of a win over the number one
ranked team in the league, Young Life. Mean Machine, one
of the more talented teams, should handle Team Mother with ease.
Our Pick: Mean Machine: 18 Team Mother: 12
PATRIOTS AT EASTSIDE THUNDER 6:30 PM
Eastside
Thunder's Matthew Boyle leads the league with 10 sacks but will
need four in this week's match up to tie record holder Mike
Seekins of Canyon Creek. The Patriots enjoyed their first
win of the season last week beating Mean Machine 13-7, they also
played Arsenal tough two weeks ago only losing 7-0. The
Patriots are a good team but Eastside Thunder (if fully staffed)
is a playoff team.
Our Pick: Eastside Thunder 20 Patriots 7
ROUND I
PLAYOFF
PREDICTIONS
#6
REPLACEMENTS AT #3 DOUBLE SHOT
7:30 PM
In the only other divisional game of the night, The
Replace-mentz will try to avenge a 20-8 loss to Double
Shot in week five. Although Double Shot matches
the league's best record, they haven't matched their
impressive 2006 debut. Combine that with how angry
some of the Replacementz are (some Replacementz players
feel the officials have influenced two of their losses)
we think that gives them the edge in this the biggest
game of their career.
Our Pick: Replacementz: 19 Double Shot:
18
#5 ARSENAL
AT #4 ANTIOCH
8:30 PM
This
rivalry was renewed early in the season when the Antioch
Saints upset the defending champs 14-8. This
rematch features a strong Antioch defense and a strong
Arsenal offense. If 2006 Offense Player of the
Year, Noah Roehl, can get out of the pocket and run for
80+ using the corners and milking the clock, Arsenal
should win and advance to the next round.
Our Pick: Arsenal 17 Antioch Saints 14 |
